A Tibetan plants a flag into some of the 20 tons of soil Tibetan soil brought to India by artist Tenzin Rigdol.

Protest of sac­ri­fice: Twelve Tibetans have set them­selves on fire in a des­per­ate effort to draw the world’s atten­tion to the oppres­sive con­di­tions of Chinese occu­pa­tion in Tibet - 11 of them just since the mid­dle of March this year. Executive pro­ducer Rebecca Novick dis­cusses this dis­turb­ing trend with Philippa Carrick, CEO of the Tibet Society UK.

A truck­load of Tibet: A lead­ing Tibetan con­tem­po­rary artist, Tenzin Rigdol, trans­ported 20 tons of soil from Tibet to Dharamsala, India to pro­vide an oppor­tu­nity for Tibetans to recon­nect to their home­land after 52 years in exile. Contributing pro­ducer Lhakpa Kyizom reports from Dharamsala.
