Mati Bernabei proving “the power of one”

Many activists dream of influencing the practices of faceless corporations but can’t imagine where to even begin. Next we hear from a woman who did just that with some surprising success. How she did it is a valuable lesson for anyone trying to take on powerful institutions and struggling to make their voice heard.

After Mati Bernabei visited Tibet in 1988, she returned to her native Canada and began trying to persuade mining companies not to invest in the Tibetan plateau. It’s been six years now, and she’s still at it. Her success has been surprising, but as she admits, the experience has made her a different kind of activist.
