A com­plex fig­ure in Tibetan his­tory dies at 99

Ngabo Ngawang Jigme, per­haps the most com­plex fig­ure in recent Tibetan his­tory, died in Beijing on December 23, 2009. He was 99 years old. His death has raised some obvi­ous and some hid­den ques­tions about Tibetan his­tory that has passed, but more impor­tantly, the his­tory that is being made right now.
